Learning to Ski at Mt. Spokane

Christine, Ellie, Kendall and I had the best day at Mt. Spokane!! Christine already knew how to ski but she took a lesson which took her a little higher on the hill. Ellie took her second lesson and then took over the bunny hill! I had to find her a helmet in the middle of the day! She likes to go fast! Up and down the hill she went all afternoon, she was so tired but would not quit! I had to drag her off the hill! Kendall Anna took lessons and also enjoyed her day. She will need a few more lessons but did great! She liked to keep her skis dusted off and she loved riding the "swing." I am hoping to get these girls independent so I can join in on the fun! Looks like I am close!!

Well, who could forget this picture! I lovingly posted it on facebook and instantly got many, many posts!! Chad kind of thought I didn't need to do that but I said, think of all the people who we gave a good laugh to!! My favorites were, "nice briefs, Hoss" and "Batman has beefed up a bit." I have to thank the Klaveano's for getting us to dress up for their party! It was a hoot to see the costumes there!

The Denny Family at the Davenport on Viv's 70th Bday

On the 16th of December, Grandma Viv turned 70. We wanted to do something special so Kendra arranged a limo pick up from Liberty Elementary! The kids all rode to Spokane in the limo with Jack and Viv and on the way to the Davenport, they toured some Christmas light displays on the South Hill. When they arrived at the Davenport, Chad and I, Kendra and Mike and Tawnya and Mark, all joined together for this great picture and dinner. Unfortunately Ellie wasn't feeling well so I had to take her home and we missed dinner. But, everyone else enjoyed a nice dinner. Jack and Viv stayed the night there and then Viv's birthday treats ended with a pedicure the next morning. She was so happy with this great evening! It think it was the perfect gift for her!! And then there is Kendall...too funny!!

Here are a few highlights from Christine's first official basketball season! Please bear with the videographer--I got a new camera and between trying to watch her play and capture it on video, I sometimes missed the girl! This year she lucked out...there were not enough 7th and 8th graders who wanted to play so they invited the sixth graders! 5 of them turned out and had a very successful season, I can't wait to watch them as they grow and learn!! Christine has a passion for basketball and it is apparent that we will be spending lots of time watching her in various gymnasiums!

Took himself for a drive on a big green tractor

I guess little boys learn to drive the tractor on the farm when the dad NEEDS them to. Last Saturday Chad was in a little problem down at the River and after I helped him out of it, we needed to move the tractor about 4-5 miles. We had three rigs to move so we decided it was Jon's big day! He did a fabulous job on his first tractor drive! Maybe we are crazy but Grandpa Jack had already had him drive the semi anyway. So, I guess this is the beginning of my little farmer doing the big stuff!

Jack and Viv have an armload of kiddos as we celebrated Savannah's 4th birthday at Priest Lake on Sunday. The kids had a great time playing in the lake and Savannah had every cousin on both sides of her family there to share her big day with her!

This summer at Priest Lake we got to add sailing to our list of life accomplishments! Jim and Kris took us out for a "3 hour tour!" It was a fun and different experience as we had never sailed before! Alex was quite the little "Skipper" and Jim, of course was Giligan!! haha!

One of my favorite things about living in Fairfield is when everyone gathers in the park. Today we had the end of the year picnic for the preschool. Everyone gathered, played, celebrated the kids and ate together. Since the park sits in the middle of town, lots of people drop by to play. I so enjoy the small town experience of this!!

Here is a picture of Jon's latest animal project. On May 2, his dog, Jessie, had 9 puppies! All happy and healthy! Jon sat with Jessie while she delivered almost all of them. It was quite an experience for him. The puppies are so adorable right now and have really been a lot of fun. Probably in 2 weeks, things will be a bit crazy with 12 dogs at our house!!

Yesterday when we went out to check the progress on the house, we had a nice surprise! Ellie hopped out of the car and said, "whoa, now that is a PINK tree!!" We didn't know that it would bloom pink! A nice surprise for me since I was wanting to plant a pink tree, yeah!!

Last week, Tawnya went on a horse hunting adventure for us. We have been looking for "kid" horses off and on for a couple of years now. Nick, (our old horse) doesn't appear to be up for riding much anymore. He is very old, probably in his thirties. So, Tawnya and Mark heard of a good kids horse and offered to ride it and check it out. The one she went to look at, she was not impressed with--she said the guy's idea of a good kid's horse is a "dead" horse. But she really liked another one that she rode. So we decided to get the one she liked and we also decided since we have so many kids and little ones, that a good "dead" broke horse was a good fit for us as well. Now Christine has Smokey to ride, Jon has Cochese (Chad's old horse) and the little girls have "Pokey" to ride. Thanks Tawnya and Mark for all your help finding these horses for us!!

President Ronald Reagan...

Jon's class did a "wax museum" where all the kids dressed up as a president. It was so adorable... When you walked up to the student, you touched a "button" on their hand and they would tell you a little about themselves. The kids did an excellent job hosting all of their visitors as they celebrated and learned about the presidents.

We have just finished a fun season of basketball! I coached the 4th grade girls and had a ball with them! Christine's team was successful as we won about half of our games. We lost a few of the games by 1 point! The girls learned so much and got to play a lot because our numbers were pretty low. We depended on everyone showing up ready to play! Christine is an aggressive little player and works very hard on the floor. She is almost always the first one down the floor on both ends!

Jon got to play with the third graders coached by Blaze Burnham. Jon had a big day at Potlatch when he scored two baskets off of rebounds!! It was so exciting and he was just beaming! He improved so much and enjoyed playing by Blaze's rule of having fun! He also knew he did great after each game because his coach awarded him with a sucker!

Ellie and Kendall were the cheerleaders! Yes, they got to go to basketball every Saturday and wore out their dad. Why do you think I coach?? We had fun attending all of these games and look forward to a few more in the future!!
